Free Range Chickens and Point of Lay Pullets:

We have kept chickens for many years, always having a ready supply of free range eggs with beautiful orange yolks, the way real tradtional free range eggs should be!

All our egg producing birds are fed only on mixed corn with a small amount of organic layers pellets to provide essential natural vitamins and minerals.

Our chickens love to roam and peck around for worms, shoots and seeds. In the evenings we close the pop holes on our specially designed free range poultry sheds to keep the fox out and they are let out again first thing in the morning. We use electric netting as a semi permanent fence which we move around our fields. Our hen houses are also portable and we have designed our own that can easily be unbolted and re-assembled. Our hen houses are constructed in six sections and house up to 75 hens each. The average cost to build a hen house of this size should be no more than £350, we can also make a wheeled version at £420. After year's of experience in keeping many different breeds of poultry we have developed our own superb strain of free range utility birds that produce eggs year round. We use a Rhode Island Red Cockerel and Cross him with both Light Sussex and Black Rock hens to create our Point of Lay free range Hybrid birds. Our chickens are very attractive, with excellent egg quality and laying potential. We supply both hatching eggs and Point of Lay Hens to customers within a 75 Mile Radius of the North Yorkshire Coast, or you can arrange to collect your birds directly from our farm by prior appointment.

These birds are reared on grass and get a free range lifestyle as soon as they feather up. At five-weeks old they are moved to their nursery run and get their first tastes of free range life, there they stay until they are 16 weeks old, the cockerels are then removed from the flock and are sold on for fattening whilst the hens are kept with us until they are six-months old.

During the winter months, when our birds reach six-months we increase the daylight hours in their shed at night for a period of three-weeks, this helps to bring them into lay so that when you buy them, they really are Point of Lay and you can expect your first eggs soon after they settle into their new homes.

We are producing these Block Rock X Rhode Island Point of Lay hybrids as we consider them to be the best all round birds, hardy and well suited to free range conditions with good looks and consistant egg production.

We have finally found a supplier for good quality parent stock birds and we are pleased to announce that we have Ross 308 Table Birds available. These are the best table birds for free range systems with a good weight gain and feed converion ratio.

We sell these birds as four week olds at only £4.35 each. These birds get very heavy, producing lots of succulent free range chicken. We do not eat any factory farmed chicken at all from supermarkets and we advise all our friends with enough space to raise their own chicken for the family. After you have tasted these for yourselves we believe you will also be converted, they are ready for eating at 14 weeks on free range systems, giving them a little extra time to put on weight and grow on a natural diet of mixed corn.

Our superb free range Norfolk Black and Bronze Turkeys start laying late March and we start incubating in April.

Renowned for full flavour these traditional breed turkeys are becoming increasingly popular, with reports of Organic Norfolk Black Turkey selling for up to £100 on the run up to last Christmas, here's the chance to get your own to fatten for the table and for a fraction of that price!.

Turkeys also make great pets and are must have addition to a large garden, farm or smallholding.

We can supply both hatching eggs and Poults during Mid March and up until the end of June.

We encourage you to secure your birds by placing an order securely online. Paying for them means that we will have your stock ready for collection/delivery as soon as they are ready. Failing to order your item in advance may mean that we cannot supply you when you require as we are only selling small numbers of good quality birds/eggs.

Our small flock of Embden and Toulouse Geese start laying early March, we collect and incubate their eggs, which take up to 32 days to hatch.

Geese are great to have around the farm, garden or smallholding, they act as good lawnmowers and fertilise the ground at the same time. Geese need plenty of room to graze on fresh short pasture as well as access to clean water.

We are selling less than 100 Goslings this year and we intend to keep some back for Christmas. Prices are as follows:

Very good fertility rates last year and we averaged 85% hatchability. Goose eggs are easy to hatch as long as you get the humidity levels right. We have many successful hatches under our belt and if you would like any advice on incubation of goose eggs to increase your success rates please contact us.

Incubation success does vary depending on external conditions.Our advice is to choose a well ventilated room with a consistant air temperature, ideally set your central heating thermostat to 17 C all the time your incubator is running, that way the machine's internal air temp can be controlled more accurately. Refer to your incubator manufacturer's guidelines for species specific temperature settings.

Minimum order 6 eggs, therefore you must specify at least six when placing an order.
